The fourth 1.21.6 snapshot, April 29, 2025: leads crafted from string only, a soul sand dried ghast recipe, dried ghasts from piglin bartering, and strict JSON parsing.
25w18a is the fourth 1.21.6 snapshot, released on April 29, 2025. It is a short one, but two recipe changes in it affect survival players directly. Leads are now crafted from string alone, with the slimeball replaced by one more string, so a lead no longer needs anything from a slime. The dried ghast recipe swapped its bone block for soul sand, which makes it eight ghast tears and a block of soul sand.
Piglins can now give dried ghasts when you barter with them, one more way to get one besides crafting and soul sand valley fossils. Splash potions now base their strength on the closest distance between an entity's hitbox and the potion where it landed. A mob hit directly gets the full effect, and mobs standing close together get the same strength.
For pack authors, every mob now stores home_pos and home_radius, and all JSON files, in worlds, packs and configuration alike, are parsed in strict mode, so JSON that only loaded because the old parser was lenient can now fail. The uniform font moved to Unifont 16.0.03. Data pack format 75, resource pack format 59, 18 bugs fixed.
