Minecraft 25w10a
1.21.5 Snapshot
Wednesday, March 5, 2025
The tenth and final 1.21.5 snapshot, March 5, 2025: the tntExplodes game rule, custom data on every entity, and cow and sheep model fixes before the pre-releases.
25w10a was the tenth and last snapshot for 1.21.5, released on March 5, 2025. The first pre-release followed six days later, and the finished drop, Spring to Life, came out on March 25. By this point the feature list was mostly settled, and the changelog reads like it.
The one gameplay addition is the tntExplodes game rule. Bedrock Edition and Legacy Console Edition already had it, and now Java Edition does too, so a server can stop TNT from exploding without plugins. Cactus flowers can be placed on farmland, and endermen can pick them up and carry them around.
The rest is polish. The new cow models were adjusted so horn placement and leg position match Bedrock Edition, baby cow heads sit where they belong, temperate cows lost the harsh borders on their leg textures, and a hard line on the back of the sheep wool texture is gone. The test blocks from 25w03a got new textures.
Map makers got one useful change: custom data, which only markers had before, now works on every entity. Block predicates can match block entity components, entity predicates got a predicates field, and a #flowers item tag was added. Pack format 70, 26 bugs fixed. The finished update is covered on the Minecraft 1.21.5 Spring to Life page.
